Google is the most widely used search engine on the internet. Anybody who goes online to search for a website is guaranteed to be using Google. That is why all webmasters need to learn how to optimize their websites so that they are Google friendly. If they are Google friendly, then the websites will be indexed in the Google search engine and gradually rank higher in the search results. There is plenty of information on the internet about this.
Many new webmasters may not realize this but Google has something called “Google Webmaster Tools” that can actually help index all of the pages on your website a lot faster. These tools are provided for free to anyone who has a Google account. But before you use them, you need to create a sitemap for your website because the Webmaster Tools use sitemap files to index all the web pages of the website. If you don’t know how to create a sitemap file, which is usually in XML format, then go on Google and search the keyword phrase “sitemap file generator xml.” You will find plenty of websites that will automatically create a sitemap file for you by simply typing your URL address into their web software. After a few seconds it will let you download the xml file, and then you upload it to your webhost in the root folder of your website. Go back to your webmaster tools and submit the URL address that links to the xml file you just uploaded. Google will scan that file and prepare every webpage listed in that file for indexation into the search engine. This is the first step in the search engine optimization process with Google, which surprisingly many webmasters don’t take advantage of.
Once you get your website indexed, you still need to gain a high ranking for it. Besides focusing on keyword phrases and unique content, you should try getting backlinks to your website. Backlinks are when other websites have a link to your website on them. You will want to try to get high ranking websites to give you backlinks because this will tell Google that your website is popular and it will cause your website to gain a higher ranking as well. The more high ranking websites that link to your website, the better your own rank will be. Just make sure you get backlinks that relate to your niche. For example, if you run a clothing website then don’t put backlinks on a software website because that traffic won’t be interested in what you are selling. The same goes for any other niche such as cars, arts, publications, books, hobbies, financial, business, computer, education and apps.
Links from High Page-Rank sites will help boost your ranking.
